With no small measure of foreboding and trepidation, I cast my votes in the 2006 ALA election yesterday. ALA is engulfed in monumental problems from the top down, with no relief in sight. Somewhere along the line ALA forgot it was a library association and now thinks it is something else; I won't dwell on what I think it thinks it is. The only positive thing I've heard recently is the news that incoming President Leslie Burger is a blogger. Any librarian who dips her toe in the waters of Library 2.0 can't be all bad.
